Green hair, Track and Field Trials, and a Little Moto

Posted at 11:30:00 AM

Sorry for the lack of updates, ive been slackin! This week I decided it was time for a change, so I went into Salon 56 down in SD and handed my hair over them for a complete re-vamping. Needless to say I look completely different and I love it! Jamie and Tiffany did an awesome job creating a new look for me and I am pretty psyched to be sporting it. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend checking them out, its not often that I can walk into a salon and completely trust the stylist but these guys are not only talented, but super cool! I’ll put up a few pics up of the new hair…

Its been pretty dead here at the OTC with all the track and field athletes gone for their trials in Eugene, Oregon. I’ve started to get pretty attached to some of them, its crazy the friendships you can make at a place like this when everyone is training for different sports but the same ultimate goal. Hopefully they all come home with tickets to Beijing. Track and field Olympic trials are a one shot chance to qualify for the games. Because the talent pool is so deep in the U.S. that’s the only way they think it can be fair to choose who gets to wear the red, white and blue. It doesn’t matter if you’re a former gold medalist, if you have won every race this season, or if you are a nobody who just managed to make the “a” standard to compete, all it takes is a top three finish (men or woman in each event) and you’re in. Pretty intense! Anyway everyone here is cheering on our resident athletes. Trials began last Friday and run til this coming Sunday, coverage will be on NBC so check it out! I think Swimming trials begin tonight as well in Omaha so the sports sections are going to be blowing up this week.

In BMX news training this week has been good, I am having the time of my life on the bike right now and my training schedule is full swing to prepare me for Beijing. No word yet on a possible 2nd women’s position but the door is still open. I’m training hard as the alternate with the full intent on competing and that’s about all I can do at this point. Next race for me will be ABA Great Salt Lake for a little pedaling on old home turf and i’m looking forward to it, should be fun!

Yesterday I drove up to LA to see the aunt and cousins. We headed over to Glen Helen to watch some old fashioned motocross up the legendary desert hills. My uncle Dennis was part of a 4 man team (reduced to 3) competing in a 12hr race, the team with the most laps completed after 12 hours wins. Lap times were 20+ minutes and combined with that desert heat it seemed pretty brutal. I sat my 3 mo. cousin on top of a fifty so he could get the feel of two wheels under him and rubber in his hands but I don’t think he was super psyched on us trying to take pics of it, oh well…my guess is uncle Dennis will have him shredding that fifty by the time he is 2.

Alright update enough, I am out!
