I’ve been holed up in the hotel all day, eating my own cooked American pasta and chicken out of my hot pot watching the race from the comfort of my rock hard bed. BMX made primetime TV today with live coverage of the race. It was a very professional show ran just like an NBA basketball game with commentators and a sports center type desk surrounded by UCI logos, instant replay action, and theme music that sounded like kids singing “lalalalala.”
Because it was in Chinese I had a hard time distinguishing who was who in the USA jerseys, but I saw A LOT of Americans out front... I was able to pick out Volle and Heffron for big wins in the main and I was told tonight that of the 15 categories racing today, 7 of them were wins for the USA and that’s with 3 categories containing no USA riders! Nice job Groms!. I saw a few rad crashes on the third and last straight, the instant replay action came in handy there. They just ran 14 and under today…tomorrow will be the 16 and over class, followed by Elites practice. We get to finally race on Saturday and then its just killing time…
Interesting food items of the day: powdered embryo, fried leeches
