So unfortunately the track was built on a lake bed. And then there was a monsoon a week or so ago hence the reason the track refuses to harden up. The girls did the first practice and then the guys started their practice before a meeting was called and the men decided to boycott. The officials still decided to run the womens time trial but we thought it unfair that the men had been shredding up our course by walking and riding around on it and they were getting their side fixed. It was kind of funny I walked over to the Aussies to see what they thought and before long we had an army of 20 or so girls migrating over to us ready to boycott. We were told they would work on our section for an hour and let us roll through it to test it out before the TT.

2nd practice went much worse. As the track started to dry it became a sandbox and jumps that we were hitting before suddenly became quicksand which made it even sketchier. Most of the top girls decided to call it and the rest followed suit. After another long discussion it was decided that we would wait until tomorrow after some work goes into the track to decide if we will be racing or not.

So... thats where we stand. I personally have mixed feelings about it. We only have two weeks until worlds and less than three months til Beijing. Nobody wants to get injured, but at the same time valuable country and individual Olympic points are on the line. Everyone wants to race, its just unfortunate the circumstances that came into play in getting this track ready. My guess is we will shred tomorrow with no time trial and see what happens....

Update:

Just got back from a cruise over to the track. Tom, Johann, and the crew are working their BUTTS off to get it rideable. I applaud them for their hard work and we will make the best of what we have. Men will start their TT at 11am and three rounds of 1/8ths at 2:15 with the womens three rounds of 1/4ths.
