Adelaide SX practice

Posted at 07:03:43 AM

Alright so here is the lowdown on practice... They built the entire course in 48hrs, so pretty much it was soft yet rough and needs a bit more dialing in. In the mens practice dR, Mikey, and the Cisar all looked on point. Their third straight was pretty sketch with a steep roller to steep double and after Bubs went down hard nobody else really even tried it so there will be some changes there before the time trial tomorrow. In the womens practice we lost 3 girls to stretchers on the second straight. Its fairly technical but Jill, Amanda and I all handled it pretty well. Our third straight is super soft and really uneven making it quite unexciting as we manual to bonk our way through it, hopefully some changes will be made there as well.

And last but certainly not least was the challenge of the first straight. I'll be honest, I wanted to be the first girl down the ramp and over the first two jumps today, but after I watched solid case action in the mens practice I wasn't quite so confident. The ramp here is about 1/3 shorter and they made the landing on the first jump really really flat making it feel like you are always casing and losing speed for the next big double which has a weird step down halfway down the landing. Sarah Walker broke the ice on the ramp then 3 of us hit it in succession. Its kind of an awkward jump to land and took me a good 7 or 8 runs on it before I felt ready for the second double.

Hometown hero Nicole Callisto was the first girl to hit up the deuce and some Jr Aussie hit it up as well. After I saw that I knew I needed to throw down for the ole USA and charged the second jump long darting it and shot straight up the corner. It was a whole lot easier than I thought it was going to be and the second run through was much cleaner. Unfortunately only 9 of the 26 girls signed up dared to do the ramp and first jump and only 3 of us even hit the second jump so I am not sure how things will play out tomorrow for the time trial. I know they plan to make the landing on the first jump a little steeper so we can get some backside and hopefully we can get two solid racks of girls going so we look legit.

Bubs and lil Beast are on the injured list from crashes today but are both planning on riding tomorrow I think. Us girls have an early practice tomorrow so I am out for the night. Check back tomorrow for time trial results.
