Arrivee en France

Posted at 03:48:40 PM

Back in France today to do a little training one-on-one with the coach. I am excited to be here because last time I came I felt my skills on the track improving overnight. South France has some of the most technical tracks in the world, very good for the bike skills. Back home in Chula Vista the BMX facility is closed while the boys are in Madrid and we dont have any US races until West Palm so it was the perfect time for me to pack up and head out.

In other news, I went Sky diving the day before I left with Kintner and one of the ATC's on site. What an experience that was! I have never felt such an exhilerating rush. It was a crazy sensation to be falling 120mph yet at the same time feel like you are floating. My stomach was in my throat and my chest and lungs felt like they were going to explode yet at the same time it was peaceful? Hard to describe, but by far one of the best experiences I have ever had. I am already planning to go again when Mike comes back.

I will paste a bit that I posted on jillkintner.com :

"So Jill decides at random that she wants to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet and invited me along, who was I to say no to that? I have always wanted to go, now I had the opportunity to back it up. The plane looked like it was on its 400,000th trip since 1975, but after watching it a few times as it banked a hard 180* to land on a short strip I was convinced it was "jump worthy." A little ball up with some clouds had us delayed only increasing the anticipation of the drop. Once we loaded the twin prop, packed to the hilt I took a glance over at Kay-Tee and thought she might have a change of heart jumping with the scrawny guy sporting a sweet neck warmer, but she held tough. Kintner was the first to charge and looked pretty calm until they opened the door and she started screaming and her eyes popping. Not 20 seconds later a white faced Katie was dropping and I found myself looking down at an earth that seemed way to far away for a parachute. Other than the feeling that my heart was exploding and my lungs collapsing, the free-fall was the craziest sensation in the world, a euphoria that was well worth the chunk of change spent. Pretty awesome way to watch the sunset too.... "

Check out Jill's site for more details and pics. She has in my opinion one of the best pro websites out there, well worth the read. As for me I have to go do a little recovery ride for the legs before I go to the track tonight, so I am out.
