Racing is finally finished for the night. I'm not super stoked about my finish. I felt pretty good all day, I didnt exert myself too hard in motos and pulled out an easy 2,2,2 to save everything for the main event but as it turns out I didnt get the opportunity to open it up. I had a great gate but got pulled after the first jump by steph. I couldnt see anybody on my outside and I think Sam was with us going into the corner with the inside line and then all hell broke loose. I'm not sure exactly what happened, from my perspective Steph did a 90* (apparently she got hit from behind) up the corner into me and we blew up taking everyone in lanes 5-8 with us. Bummer. There were bikes and bodies everywhere, I almost grabbed the wrong bike and had to go searching for mine but managed to eventually find it 10 feet away and passed Sushi and woodchuck on the rest of the track for the 4th overall. Sam and Amanda were clear with the inside lines in the corner and came accross 1&2 I think a German girl escaped the carnage and rolled in for the 3rd.
Granted the first corner is set up for the pro section and is difficult to hit for the amatuer side but im getting pretty sick of the crashes that I feel helpless to avoid. I think the only solution is to be far enough out front so I have renewed my goal to do just that.
No major injuries is good news for me though. I just have a fat lip that could give Angelina Jolie a run for her money. Who needs collagen?
The guys had a lot of great racing action...many of the favorites winning the motos started losing stamina with the 15 minute breaks and lost out in the quarters and semis. The Elite men class is getting so stacked and with the foreign invasion that is here the talent is deep. Becerine came away with the overall followed by Matisons I think. Kyle and Donny were in there somewhere as well as Stumpy. Check BMXmania for official results.
Another day of UCI action starts tomorrow night at 6pm EST. Go211 will be providing coverage once again so you guys can all tune in at home.
