It was highs and 'lows' today at practice for the fans, but heat strikes for the riders. It was blazin' hot today at the Olympic BMX venue, but both the ladies and men got in a full round of practice in the morning.

 It was a different story, though after the noon time two hour break. Everyone went back to the hotel and chilled, cuz, it was HOT as fire. Well, it probably wasn't quite THAT hot, but you know?

The morning round was looking fast, with one of the fastest guys on the track, bein' South Africa's, Young Gun, Sifiso Nhlapo. Sifiso was attackin' the track and throwin' in a little Racer Style along the way making it African Racer Style.

Go211 rider, 'Mosquito' Suarez was lookin' good, and involved in a small bit of Official Notice, as his sweet lookin' Venuzuela jersey was lookin' a little tight, (kind of like an illegal 'sliip strem' body suit) and in some people's minds, violated the 3cm "pinch test". I think that what the deal is is, the Jonathan put on his under jersey body armor, it filled it out a bit, and that what was causing the Controversy.

Go211 pro, Donny Robinson was lookin' fast as well, but then that's not hard for dR, cuz he just IS fast. Believe me, it's in everybody's mind that he won on this track last year, and as determined as Donny is, all involved KNOW that he can do it again.

But one thing that I noticed is......Very few people are giving it the gas yet. Some riders attack the track while some riders, kind of "lay back" and give a bit more of a study as they figure out exactly what works and how. Different obstacles give different people trouble, and when the time trials start it'll be in the plan and ready to rock.

 Liam Phillips powered his bike to one distinction. To the best of our knowledge, Liam was the only rider to actually hit the dirt in practice today. In the very lonely afternoon practice (6 men showed up) Liam was working turn one and "ran out of turn". He was just going FAST and mis-judged it, wiped out one of the pretty little turn barriers and slid on out in to the bottom of Turn One. A nicely skinned palm, but none the worse for wear.

I'd say go read Liam's Go211 blog or I'd get a Go211 Quote for you, but Liam, Donny and Mosquito are bound by what they call "Olympic Protocol" and can't blog or write in stuff for their web sites. We can tell you their story, but ya gotta watch out for that "Olympic Protocol", you don't want THAT to come back and bite you in the butt.
